Breakfast with Santa
Dear William,
Today Papa and YaYa took us to Breakfast with Santa at the Zoo! It snowed a little last night, and the roads were terrible, but we braved the weather to get to the zoo. Mommy dressed you up in a button down shirt and sweater vest. You looked so handsome. We also put a "Baby's First Christmas" Santa hat and bib on you. Here are some pictures from the day:

Growth Spurt!
Dear William,
It is hard to find time to blog now that Mommy is back at work and we have all been sick! Our normal routine consists of Mommy and Daddy waking up at 5am, getting ready, then getting you up at 5:45 to eat before we go to day care and work. After work, you are usually hungry shortly after we get home, so we feed you and play for a while, then its bath time and bedtime! Since Mommy has been sick, she pretty much goes to bed when you do, about 7:30 or 8pm. And now Daddy is sick too! Being sick is no fun at all. Hopefully we will all feel better soon. You seem a lot less congested, but are still sleeping in your swing, mainly because Mommy and Daddy don't feel well and don't want to chance you having a rough night.
We took you for your four month checkup on December 3rd. At the appointment with Dr. Eaton, Mommy and Daddy asked about your continued congestion and he said you may have it off and on all winter. That's also why we just keep you sleeping in the swing, since you are likely to get all stuffy again soon. At your checkup, you weighed in at 14 lbs 5 oz and measured 24 1/2 inches long. Your head circumference was 16 3/8 inches. Mommy and Daddy thought that you were getting HUGE, but it turns you you are only in the 27th percentile for weight and the 22nd for height. Your head has grown though, and you are now in the 49th percentile for head circumference. Mommy and Daddy asked the doctor if your small size was any indication that you aren't going to be tall like Daddy, and he said no, you will probably grow at your own rate. Daddy thinks we should call you "shorty." Mommy and Daddy were surprised you weren't measuring bigger....
But you have since had a MASSIVE growth spurt, outgrown all the clothes you were in, and chunked out in a major way. Your chubby cheeks are so cute! You are now easily wearing six month sleepers, but not quite in the six month onesies, which sucks because the three month onesies are all too small. You grew so fast, you passed up some of the clothes in the basement, which Mommy hadn't brought upstairs yet. You skipped a whole size! You feel much heavier, and appear to have grown at least an inch. What a big boy you are!
During your growth spurt, you were getting really mad when you were hungry. You would take down your normal six ounce bottle in record time and then be mad that there wasn't more. So we upped your bottles to eight ounces and that made you happy. You have been drinking four eight ounce bottles a day, and two to four ounces at bedtime. That's a TON! You also have been getting REALLY mad when Mommy and Daddy burp you in the middle of your bottle. You tense up and scream at the top of your lungs. We don't like to see you upset, but it is pretty funny, because you seem to think we are starving you, and you throw mini tantrums to get more food. You have been grunting in excitement when you see your bottle. Your growth spurt seems to be over now, because you are eating a little less and not getting so mad when it is time to eat.
Let's see...some major developmental things you are doing are:
1. "Talking" non-stop. You talk the most in morning and in the evening, but you have started squealing and changing your inflection. You are going to be a talker, that's for sure.
2. Sticking your tongue out. You have it out all the time, and blow with out, making the razz sound.
3. You have started grabbing EVERYTHING within your reach. You love your keys, zebra car seat toy and your crinkle book. You put everything in your mouth too!
4. You have discovered that you like your hands more than the pacifier. You won't really take the pacifier and much prefer to suck and chew on your hands. Your hands are getting chapped though, so Mommy and Daddy don't know what to do.
5. Mommy can make you laugh until you can't catch your breath. It is HILARIOUS! Here are a couple videos of you laughing:
We met with the Parents as Teachers lady again a couple weeks ago. You are doing excellent still at gross motor skills and verbal. She had you lay on your tummy and you lifted your head all the up and held it there and paid attention while she flipped through a board book with animals. You are so smart and SOOOO cute! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you. Lori introduced us to the terminology we should use as we teach you stuff. "Care for yourself, Care for your family, Care for your home and Stick together." We're supposed to use these statements when they apply in our daily lives. The only thing Lori said to work on is teaching you your name. Right now, you don't turn to us when we say your name, so Mommy and Daddy have been working on that.
The infant room at daycare has an account with an online photo website, so they share pictures of you with us. Here are some pictures from your first day:
