Playtime!

Dear William,

You are getting more and more active lately.  We can hardly keep you still.  When you lay on our laps, you pull yourself up to sitting, and then you try to stand so you can bounce.  You are even active at bedtime, because you flail your arms and legs about as you fall asleep.  You are definitely a Fuerst in that aspect, because Fuerst men have a reputation for being very sound sleepers that are very irritable upon waking. (Not that your Daddy knows anything about that... :-)  You even hit Daddy in the nose the other day and made his nose bleed!

We have been having A LOT of fun lately!  He's what you've been up to:
  • You like when Mommy and Daddy sings the ABC's.  You find it even more hilarious when Mommy "raps" the ABC's.  Yes, Mommy raps, go ahead and laugh.
  • Tonight, Daddy was simply saying "Dada" and you were laughing hysterically.  When Daddy said "Mama" you didn't laugh, and then when he said "Dada" again, you laughed.  So funny!
  • You have started making a very high-pitch squeal sound, and when you make that sound, Mommy says, "There's a mouse in the house!" and we all laugh.
  • You love you little squeaky giraffe toy, called "Sophie Giraffe." You wave her around and chew on her feet or ears, and pop them between your gums. Hard to explain, but VERY cute!

  • Since Daddy was at training for work all week, Papa came over again for dinner and played with you.  You love playing with Papa.  Papa holds you sitting in his hands and floats you around in the air above Phoebe.  You and Phoebe both love it!  You squeal in delight.  You also like sitting on Papa's lap in the recliner, because he bounces you on his leg and turns the chair quickly so you can follow Phoebe around the room.
  • Last week there was supposed a "historic and catastrophic" blizzard in St. Louis.  It didn't pan out the way the weather men said it would, but Mommy got to spend two whole days hanging out with you!  It was wonderful.  You were a little fussy, because you are majorly teething.  You wouldn't take naps in your crib, so Mommy held you in your nursery and read her new Kindle while you slept.  Mommy read a whole book while you slept! Mommy loves cuddling with you even though she knows the habit of not napping in your crib will be hard to break...again.  Other than the fussiness, we had two wonderful days.  My how I miss seeing you all day everyday!  Here are some pictures Mommy took during our snow days:

  • You love to play with your laugh and learn puppy! Mommy and Daddy sing along to the songs and we all have a lot of fun.
  • You are finally getting some hair!  Of course it is still almost clear blond, but in certain light you can really see it.  You are so handsome!
  • You have been sticking your tongue out constantly! When Mommy or Daddy stick our tongue out and make the razz sound, you will do it back.  It is so fun interacting with you.
  • You grab your feet as soon as Mommy and Daddy put you down.  At your check-up Friday, the doctor said that grabbing your feet is a major developmental milestone.  You are getting so big so fast!  You also roll over a lot now and when we put you on your play mat, or in your crib, you move all around! It is increasingly difficult to change your diaper because you reach for the toys at the end of the dresser and twist and turn all over.  Mommy has to distract you so you will lay flat.  Diaper changing has become all about speed!  It won't be long and you'll be into everything...
  • At your six month appointment, you weighed in at 17 pounds and are 26" long.  That still is only the fortieth and twenty-forth percentile, respectively.  You have grown so much lately, Mommy and Daddy were sure you'd be at least in the fiftieth percentile, but oh well.  You are sure to grow big and tall like Daddy, but maybe not until high school.  Papa and Great-Grandpa Keune did not grow tall until they were over sixteen years old!
We love watching you grow!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
