You still don't have any teeth, which is amazing since you have been "teething" since you were 4 months old! Mommy and Daddy just blame your grump-o moods on teething. Although, seriously, for real this time.... we think you are getting ready to cut a tooth! Ha ha. You are still being a grumpy guy in the evenings, but otherwise you are happy.
You LOVE exploring now that you are on the move. You particularly like getting into Phoebe's water dish, which is quite a mess. Mommy and Daddy hope that is just a phase, but anticipate many a soaked outfits when we forget to pick the water up! Here are some pictures of you playing in the kitchen:
You are still having problems with solid foods. You can eat the puffs and cheerios without much problem anymore, but you are not enthusiastic about any other solid foods. Sometimes you will try things, but half of those times you just chock and throw-up. Mommy and Daddy aren't really sure what to do. We have had success with Bananas (thanks, Aunt Kristen!) and very very small peaches. At day care, Miss Jennifer says you eat green beans, peas and carrots cut up small, of course, but Mommy and Daddy can't get you to eat these things at home. It is very scary when you choke, so we hope you figure out how to chew and swallow very soon. There are so many yummy foods we can't wait for you to try!
Saturday, Mommy and Daddy took you to ride the Carousel at Faust Park. You seemed to like it, but didn't get excited one way or the other. Here are some pictures:
Another thing you are doing lately is talking with more and more inflection in your voice. You babble all the time in the car. It is almost like we are having a conversation with you. Also, in Daddy's car you tend to whine, so he will turn on the Sesame Street CD that he plays when you are in the car. You stop whining as soon as Daddy's turns it on, so we know that is what you want.
You have also discovered that you really like looking out the front window. You kneel in front of it and watch for cars and animals to go by. Usually Phoebe is watching right behind you, so it is very cute. Today, Daddy cut the grass, and you banged on the window to get his attention and then watched him cut the whole front yard! When you find something interesting, you seem to have a pretty good attention span.
Last night you spent the night at Grandma and Grandma's house so Daddy could take Mommy out to dinner. Grandma and Grandpa said you did just fine and played a lot this morning.
Yesterday was Avery's first birthday party. It was an Elmo themed party, so Uncle Dave, Aunt Kristen and Cora all wore Elmo t-shirts. You were a ham for the camera as usual and had a blast playing with the balloons with Papa. You are still very much a momma's boy and don't want other women to hold you. You let Uncle Rett and Papa hold you, but that was about it yesterday. (Mommy and Daddy REALLY want you to bond with your grandmas and aunts, so we hope this phase ends soon.) Here are some pictures from the day that YaYa and Aunt Jenna took:
Lastly, since the weather is finally warming up, Mommy and Daddy have been taking you to the park to swing in the baby swings. We went to Creve Couer Park on Saturday, and Faust Park on Sunday. Here are some pictures:
You have been very interested in the trees and leaves while we've been at the park!
We love you so much and it is fun to watch you learn and experience new things!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
